Layton and Mental Breakdown

Well, here’s something from left field, MORE fan art! Quite the shocker, I know.

Ah, yes, Professor Layton. I’ve just finished the first game and currently about an hour into the second one. (Please don’t tell me about it, I had the first one spoiled to me and I’ve been trying to keep that from happening again!) This was a fun game to play, and I’m sure that you guys know that. After beating the game and while taking a break from the second game and other drawings, I decided to practice ‘staying on model’ for when I eventually become an animator. Naturally just getting into the fandom, I chose Layton and the first pose you see was the very first time drawing him, well...if I don’t count that one blob in the corner of the page. After drawing that...it somehow morphed into this crappy comic...I don’t know.

Oh and let me tell you:

I HATE THAT STUPID SLIDER PUZZLE!!! I’m not kidding, I really hate it. The way I play is to try to NOT use any hints or cheats, so the coins were out of the question. I for the life of me CAN NOT do slider puzzles, I hate them and whoever invented them are jerks. Do you really think that ‘5 hours later’ joke was just that...no, seriously...I spent AN ENTIRE AFTERNOON OF ABOUT 4 HOURS ON THE THING! Yeah...I don’t have a life...sue me.

Anyway, about the artwork:

I drew the characters on animation paper with Red Prismacolor color pencils, Inked the characters in Illustrator, painted them and some of the background in Artrage 3 and did final work in Photoshop...yep, I like making things difficult.

I really wanted to have the watercolor look to them because the art style just demands it...so there.

Oh and before someone says something, panels 2 and 4's arms are supposed to look half finished...like how some of the puzzles looked in the game. Mmkay.

Stupid slider puzzle was shamefully ripped right from the game because it doesn’t deserve my time and attention to paint it.

And that's it, but I just want to say that Luke’s bag looks an awful like my purse...huh.
